A circular walk from Keswick to the 4,500 year old Castlerigg Stone Circle, with stunning panoramic fell views.
From the centre of Keswick, the walk begins by making its way uphill through woodland, before emerging out into the open, where wonderful views of the fells surrounding Derwent Water can be seen. Continuing across fields, it then follows a quiet lane to the Stone Circle. After admiring the stunning setting of the stone circle, the walk descends to meet the railway footpath, which leads back to Keswick.
Paths are generally good, but can be muddy in poor weather. There is some road walking on quiet lanes.
Participants will need to dress appropriately for the terrain and weather and bring a packed lunch.
