Seeking local talent for a one act comedic play titled ‘Head Space' written by Brandon Barrett.NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY, JUST A KEEN INTEREST IN SCRIPT WORK AND A WILLINGNESS TO LEARN.
Synopsis:
Calvin and Aurora are both avid believers in aliens, and they bond after Calvin confesses to being abducted. Their relationship blooms as their community shuns them, until a pair of house music-obsessed extraterrestrials turn up in their sleepy town to little fanfare.
Initially skeptical of the aliens in their midst, our two star-crossed lovers become convinced they are real with the help of their wise sasquatch friend, Norm, and his psychedelic toad venom.
Meanwhile, as the aliens' DJ careers take off, an FBI agent arrives in town, determined to prevent their existence from going public.
Characters:
Calvin: Suspicious of authority, committed conspiracy theorist who was (allegedly) abducted by aliens.
Aurora: Bubbly, naive New-Age woman who loves energy crystals almost as much as she loves EDM festivals. Also an avid believer in aliens.
Zark & Zolar: Androgynous aliens who have travelled to Earth to extract the planet's resources, but have become distracted from their mission by their newfound love of human house music. Peaceful, kind creatures who become beloved DJs. Can be played by any gender.
Norm: Sage sasquatch who offers advice -- and psychedelic drugs -- to Calvin and Aurora. Laidback, wise.
Agent Dunbar: Male or female. A tight laced FBI agent trying to prevent the existence of aliens from going public.
If cast you must be available Friday’s 6-8pm
January 10-March 7, 2025 for rehearsals.
There is a $100+GST cost associated if cast to cover insurance and the space rental. The fee for teaching/directing is not included but can be provided at the end of the session based on what participants feel is fair (regular cost is $280).
