About this Event

November is a great time of the year to make a stop and appreciate the beautiful nature around us. You are invited to come meet the team and cast that make Teatro Latinx possible. This kayaking day is organized by Teatro Latinx in collaboration with the Metropolitan Migrant Resource Centre.

We will meet at the Funcats kayaking booth near Coode street jetty on the South Perth foreshore. Please meet us there no later than 8:30am to get all equipment sorted before we start. Once everyone has arrived we run through a short safety briefing, which covers what to do in any sort of emergency. We also cover a short lesson on how to paddle and the best places to paddle for the weather conditions on the day.

Things to consider for your safety:

  • Prior to heading out everyone is fitted with life jackets, which are sized from children through to adults. The life jackets are compulsory.
  • There is no problem if non-swimmers are heading out, as the kayaks are very stable so there is very little chance of them tipping over.
  • We will monitor everyone whilst they are on the water and save a rescue boat available at all times for the small chance that anyone should need assistance.
  • Be aware that you will definitely get wet! The kayaks are ‘sit on top’, so water comes in from the self draining deck and from the paddle.

Remember to bring:

  • A snack to share
  • A litre of drinking water
  • Hat
  • Sunscreen

See you there!
