Casino Workshops SPECIAL GUEST INSTRUCTOR JEFF LINK
If you haven’t taken a class from Jeff, do it! This is your chance! Jeff has been teaching cuban dances for years and has an excellent way of breaking down movements, leads and follows.
This event is for salsa dancers or casino dancers who would like to learn/learn more casino and rueda de casino.
We will review the fundamental movements, positions, leads and follows to be a good casinero/a both in and out of a rueda. From there we will work on common turn patterns and calls and see how far we can progress.
For those unsure of what in the world Casino is: Casino is a Cuban dance (commonly referred to as Cuban salsa), danced to Timba music. It is danced to the same count as salsa on one but rather than being a slot dance, partners move around each other in a more circular manner. Casino can also be danced as a group where parters form a wheel (rueda de casino) in this formation, you will see one caller who calls out which moves the group will perform together in unison. Different calls will rotate everyone around the wheel, so it is a great way to dance with everyone in a short amount of time.
I’m thinking this might be every other week depending on interest level/ schedule
Location: Rosewood neighborhood park
Conley pavilion
