I’m Sunny Sundquist, from sunny Myrtle Beach, and am hosting a slot pull tournament on our first sea day, January 12. If you’ve never tried one, before, it’s a fun way to get together, pool some money, and go big or go home. I’ve hosted a couple of these on Princess ships, and here’s how it goes: Everyone who signs up chips in $20 U.S. funds, and each get four tries at $5 a clip to beat the slots. If you’re like my wife and I, we normally bet anywhere from .25 to 1.50 a throw on slots, but the higher wager gets you a little better odds, and possible payout. The upside, is you will not lose your entire wager, if you lose individually, and we split the results after everyone has played. Of course, hopefully there is a jackpot in there at some point. Part of the fun is cheering on everyone as they take their turns.
I found a cool way to manage the play, as when you chip in the $20, I hand you a unique playing card that serves as your ticket to play and get paid. Instead of worrying how your name is pronounced or where you are in the play, we’ll call out the cards in Bridge order: deuce of Clubs to Ace of Clubs, deuce of Diamonds to Ace of Diamonds, deuce of Hearts to Ace of Hearts, and finally deuce of Spades to Ace of Spades, then 2 jokers. Keep your card until the payout.
At the end of play, we divide the amount on the machine by the number of players, and divvy up. Once again, you now get paid and marked off as you turn in your particular playing card. If you’re interested, reply to this post or DM me, and I’ll start a spread sheet.
Update 12/26/25 We are at 60 entrants, a pool of $1200 if everyone buys in who are interested. No more entries until we see how many actually show up and buy in. Thanks everyone who joined!
