• Citizens Against Spouse Abuse (CASA) 5th Annual Art Exhibit, Contest & Auction.
• Sponsored by Artistic Isle.
• Main entrance of the Home & Garden Show at the Mathewson Exhibition Center
• March 28th from 9am to 4pm.
• The month of April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month!
• Art students, Art Clubs, & community members are all invited to enter their artwork:
• Charcoal drawing, sculpture, painting, photography, or any other type of medium
• Age Groups are 12 & under, 13-24, and 25 & up.
• 1st place prize for each age group. Prizes provided by Artistic Isle.
THEME: "BIG EYES".
We highlight Margaret Keane’s “Big Eyes” paintings this year. Oversized eyes that convey deep emotion, innocence, & vulnerability. In 1950s, Margaret Keane struggles thru an abusive first marriage, & a manipulative, deceptive, fraudulent second marriage. In the end, Margaret wins the fight, finds her voice, and wins back her authorship.
Big Eyes is a film about her life’s drama & how she overcomes it. We encourage you to watch it on Amazon Prime.
ONLINE AUCTION BENEFIT FUNDRAISER: Many years ago, Myra Ragar recreated two of Margaret Keane’s paintings in pastels to honor Margaret Keane's work. Myra is donating her 2 original pieces as a fundraiser for CASA with an online auction by White Knight Auctions.
DONATE: Are you interested in donating your piece for our online auction? All proceeds go to Citizens Against Spouse Abuse to help with the expenses involved as we provide services to survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence.
ONLINE AUCTION DATES: White Knight Auctions: March 26 at 6pm thru April 9 at 6pm. Pick up date is 4/12 from 1-4pm.
WHAT'S UP:
THE RULES:
• Must be your own creation,
• Painting or Drawing: (Pen, Ink, Pencil, Acrylic, Goache, Watercolor, Oil, Mixed Media). Framed is not required.
• Ceramic or sculpture pieces
• Photography
• Themed: Create something from your heart!
• Each piece that you are submitting requires a separate entry.
• Artwork is due by MARCH 18th if donating for auction.
INCLUDE:
• Name & contact information
• Your age
• Title of your piece
• Short description (one sentence)
• Is it framed?
• Medium used (is it oil, acrylic, etc.?)
• Size, dimension, of the piece
• Are you donating it to CASA for our online auction?
• If you are donating your piece for the auction, the art work is due by March 18th. Art is to be dropped off at Artistic Isle, 120 E. 6th St, in downtown Sedalia. MTW from 1-4
• If you are not donating your piece and would like it back, you can drop off at Artistic Isle MTW 1-4 by March 25th; or at the Mathewson on March 28th at 8am & pick up at 4pm.
