Now that we've hopefully all emerged from the revelry of the summer holidays, it's time to do a little bit of good for our local ecosystem. I'll be getting down to the business of giving the Carrington Mangroves a good old clean, and would love your company if you're able to join in for the fun. There's always an excessive amount of rubbish that gets washed up into the delicate root systems of this place, and so the more hands on deck, the better.
I'll be at Suspension Espresso for a morning coffee at 10:00am. Feel free to come along to get caffeinated before we head over to the mangroves at 11:00am (meeting spot is at the carpark on Elizabeth Street).
Wear clothing that you won't mind getting a little muddy and that will protect you from mosquitos, and arm yourself with your preferred rubbish extraction utensils (gloves highly recommended).
Rumour has it that the person who retrieves the largest piece of rubbish will win a prize!
I will bring rubbish bags, mosquito repellant and sunscreen.
Finally, I wish to acknowledge that the clean up will take place on Awabakal and Worimi land, for which sovereignty was never ceded and which was violently taken through invasion and dispossession.
