Composition isn’t just vocabulary words! For artists, information about composition is most useful when it’s applied during the art-making process. From envisioning and planning, through troubleshooting, to deciding whether or not to sign the finished work, an artist can use compositional decision-making tools that will help create a more satisfying result. This six-week course will show you how to use the elements and principles of art while working in your preferred medium and style.

Carrie Kelley is an award-winning pastel painter who focuses on painting her surroundings. She earned a BFA in Painting and an MA in Arts Administration. She encourages self-expression because that's where compelling art comes from - the individual artist's interests, emotional attachments, aversions, and influences. Her love of pastel painting comes from the medium's practicality, versatility, and richness.
