Carolyn Shapiro lives in Upstate New York and is a passionate innovator of the claw hammer banjo. She is a singer songwriter whose work centers around the complexities of human experiences and finding love and meaning from rivers. Her songs are haunting and emotional. Like the river and falls for which this series is named, her work flows from the deep soul of Appalachian traditional music. As a young artist she already has two albums. Her first album “Where I’m Supposed To Be” earned her the 2022 Capital Area Artist of the Year Award and “Take It Easy” her 2024 album further establishes her reputation. She plays broadly and was featured at the 2024 Ossipee Valley Music Festival. Concerts start at 7:00 PM and the grounds open at 6:00 PM. BYO food, drink and chairs. $15.00 - $20.00 suggested donation for the musicians. In addition, there are goats, chickens, gardens and walks to the river and falls. Parking is on the house side of Conant Street and at Ernie’s Cycle Shop. Also, Downtown Westbrook is a short (10 minute) walk away with parking and many fine restaurants for take-out. Children are always welcome!
