Welcome seasoned neurologist Carolyn Larkin Taylor to the Readings Gallery for her debut book, Whispers of the Mind!
About this Event

Fans of Oliver Sacks and Gabor Maté will be intrigued by this journey into the human brain, full of fascinating stories—both personal and professional—by a neurologist who’s dedicated her life to understanding the body’s most complex organ.

In Whispers of the Mind, Dr. Carolyn Larkin Taylor shares her professional and personal journey toward becoming a neurologist. Composed of essays that span from medical school to private practice, Taylor's memoir captures the essence of neurology—a field rarely associated with joy, yet rich in profound rewards.

"Whispers of the Mind is a remarkable memoir—tender, smart, and beautifully written. Seasoned neurologist and author Carolyn Taylor brims with compassion for life’s fragility—and for the resilient patients she helped navigate life and death over the course of her career. Vulnerability and candor mark this fascinating collection of memories, and Dr Taylor's intuition and skill as a diagnostician kept me spellbound to the very last page."—Cheryl Grey Bostrom, author of Sugar Birds and Leaning on Air

Carolyn Larkin Taylor is a seasoned neurologist who has dedicated over three decades to the practice of medicine. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Hahnemann Medical College, she completed a neurology residency at the University of Pennsylvania, where she was awarded the Humaneness in Medicine Award and recognized as one of Philadelphia's Top Docs for Women. Her manuscript Through a Mother's Eyes was awarded second place for best unpublished memoir by the Pacific Northwest Writers Association. Dr. Taylor lives in Bellingham, Washington.
