Richard Blacklee will tell the true story of two Northamptonshire criminal gangs who faced justice at Northampton’s County Buildings in the C18th. The talk will include information about the Sessions House and County Gaol.
Whilst writing a book about the Culworth Gang Richard Blacklee researched where they were imprisoned, tried and hanged in Northampton (in 1787) – he was disappointed to find there was no guidebook available for this range of fascinating buildings at the heart of the town. Initially he wrote a single page information sheet about each building, intended for free distribution from the Town’s Information office. The content was extended and reworked into a book after the Information Office was closed. 'Gaols, Gallows and Ghosts' was published in 2023.
