Join us for an exciting two-day participant-led workshop on July 6-7, 2024, featuring a keynote presentation and multiple demonstrations by Carly Slade. Have you ever imagined drinking your morning coffee from a dumpster, steeping your tea in a mailbox, or enjoying a beer straight from a fire hydrant? This workshop is your chance to explore creative and unconventional utilitarian forms, with a special focus on mugs. Designed for all levels of participants, this hands-on workshop will delve into: Carly Slade’s slab-building techniques, applying texture and stamping with found objects, surface application of underglaze, and scaling images for 3D application. Participants will engage in practical demonstrations and complete their own projects, making this an immersive and skill-building experience. Carly Slade’s square mail tote mugs might seem odd and obscure, but they offer a unique and fun object to work with and use, sparking creativity and innovation. Please bring reference images of the mug designs you want to create and examples of objects that inspire you. Join us for a weekend of creativity!
