Join Carers Manchester South for a visit to Elizabeth Gaskell’s House on Tuesday 7 December from 11.30am – 2pm, with a tour and tea and cake included. Elizabeth Gaskell’s House is a Victorian classical villa belonging to the famous Manchester writer. The family rooms are beautifully set out and decorated for Christmas. Come and see the drawing room with boudoir piano and Victorian furniture; and delight in Judy Dench’s costume for BBC’s Cranford.
You can also see where Elizabeth composed her famous novels; visit the charming garden; hear from the enthusiastic volunteers about William Gaskell’s career; see the servants’ quarters and browse the second hand books…all rounded off with some cake and a chat with other carers. Please wear a mask unless exempt.
