About the Workshop
Careland is a participatory art workshop that transforms experiences of the female body and care into an imaginative, collective artwork.
Led by artist Yuna, this hands-on session invites mothers and children to co-create a playful world where body organs become symbols of nurture and joy — a concept she calls “the body as playground.”
Through a two-phase creative process combining painting, printmaking, and 3D collage, families will design whimsical “care facilities” — such as a heart carousel or uterus maze — and together build a large-scale artwork titled the Careland Map.
Workshop Structure
Phase 1: Painting & Printmaking Exploration (approx. 60 minutes)
- Introduction to the idea of “the body as a playground.”
- Create colourful monoprints and collages inspired by imagination and care.
Phase 2: 3D Collage & Collective Assembly (approx. 60 minutes)
- Transform 2D artworks into small 3D models using cardboard, fabric, and clay.
- Assemble each family’s creation onto a large collaborative body map to form the Careland Playground.
Closing: Sharing & Reflection (15 minutes)
- Each family presents their piece and story.
- Group reflection and photo documentation for a potential digital 3D version of the Careland Map.

Final Artwork
The completed Careland Map will be a vibrant and tactile art installation created by mothers and children together — a reimagining of care, body, and play through shared creativity.
Start a creative journey with artist Yudan Ding (MA in Illustration, Royal College of Art)
— a mother of an 11-year-old boy whose practice explores care, body, and imagination. Meet Yudan and take part in an inspiring hands-on workshop designed for mothers and children.
Participants will use a variety of materials — including monoprints, crayons, and markers — to create 2D drawings inspired by the theme “Careland: The Mother’s Playground.” Together, we will then transform these artworks into collaborative 3D collages, building a collective, imaginative landscape of care and creativity.
After the workshop, Yuna will draw inspiration from the participants’ 3D collages to create a series of personal artworks titled Warmeng — pieces such as Ovary Flowers and Heart Roller Coaster, developed directly from your collective creations. These new works, inspired by you and your children, will later appear in the gallery exhibition.
