ABOUT THE SHOWS
The same year that Jeff Simmermon started IVF treatments, his father was diagnosed with ALS. He spent a full year traveling from NYC to VA to care for a dying father while white-knuckling his own journey to fatherhood. It's supposed to be funny.
Jeff Simmermon has appeared on This American Life, The Moth podcast, RISK and released two albums of standup and storytelling.
______________
After several exhausting rounds of IVF, all three of Erin Barker's surviving embryos are girls. Realizing she will only ever be the mother of a daughter, Erin recounts the complicated nature of her relationship with her own mother, who, when Erin was growing up, made a series of decisions that changed her family's lives forever.
Erin is the executive director of Story Collider, a nonprofit whose mission is to reveal the vibrant role that science plays in all of our lives through the art of personal storytelling, and producer of its award-winning podcast. She is the first woman to win The Moth's GrandSLAM storytelling competition twice, and her work has been featured on public radio several times, including The Moth Radio Hour. One of her stories was included in the New York Times-bestselling book The Moth: 50 True Stories.
