We haven’t talked a lot about mental health in a little while - October was a BUSY month and November has flown by. But we have been working quietly in the background with a group of likeminded individuals in Hastings who want to make a different in the local mental health scene. This particular group is for the CARETAKERS of the mentally ill. That’s a huge roll to take on and it comes with weight only other caretakers can understand.
Who is a care taker?
Mine is my husband. Jeremy’s was his wife Bailey. Sometimes it’s a parent. Sometimes it’s a friend. But no matter who it is, I can guarantee you they need just as much support surviving their role of caretaker as we need to take care of our mental health.
It’s a massive responsibility to not only help guide someone through life with a mental illness, but to even stick around and keep going. You have no idea what that means to those of us who aren’t well.
So this group is for you. We’re meeting Tuesday, December 2nd in Hastings at 7:00pm in the United Way building.
Ash & Ash Noshery will of course be providing treats that night; so come hang out with us, and get to know some people in your same situation.
If YOU know a caregiver of someone who is mentally unwell, send this to them in a DM or tag them below to let them know that THEY matter too. ❤️
