About this Event
Following an opening address from Bishop Mike, the morning will take the form of presentations and discussions about the practical things we can do to protect nature, live sustainably and work for Climate Justice. The morning will include a talk about the Church of England’s commitment to achieving ambitious Net Zero Carbon targets and how this fits into an overall vision of our care for Creation.
The morning is aimed at those across the diocese who are keen to take an active role in promoting our environmental mission in their local areas.
Fairtrade
We thought it would be a good idea to promote Fairtrade tea and coffee at the 'Care into Action' Day as becoming a Fairtrade church is an important part of gaining an award for Eco-Church. As Christians we care about justice and God's creation so Fairtrade should be a part of every church's mission. The Fairtrade mark guarantees a fair price for the producer of the product as well as a little extra for the community. This producer premium means that villages can build school rooms, maternity units, libraries or give bursaries to young people who want to go to College or University. Furthermore the Fairtrade mark means that the environment is cared for where the goods are produced. As the climate crisis bites Fairtrade farmers are working to mitigate the effects so that we can go on enjoying the chocolate, coffee and tea that they produce. We shall be offering a range of Fairtrade coffees and teas for people to sample and giving advice about companies they can be ordered from.
