Cardiff No Gi Submission Only Competition

The Cardiff No Gi, Submission Only, No Time Limit competition returns for third time.

Details:

Date – Sunday 11th August 2024

Location – Ultimate Fitness Centre Cardiff, 11 Penlline Street, Cardiff, South Wales, CF24 3BD

Time – Weigh ins begin at 10.30am, first matches will commence at approximately 11.30am.

Facilities - Roof top parking (limited spaces available), showers and changing rooms.

Warm Up - No warm up area. Warm ups can be completed on the matted area prior to the matches commencing.

Prizes:

PREMIUM MEDALS for the winner (1st) and runner up (2nd) of the division. There are no 3rd place medals.

Format:

Adults Only, No Gi, Submission only, No time limit. The competition has an informal set up. Multiple matches will run concurrently on the 11 metre x 10 metre matted area.

Competitors first match will be against the person closest to them in weight, in the respective skill bracket.

All competitors will be guaranteed 2 fights with double elimination (repechage) brackets, as long as there are more than 2 competitors in the division.

Rashguards/ Compression tops, shorts/leggings must be worn. No zips or metal items.

Categories:

ADULTS ONLY (18 years+)

MENS:

Novice (0-2 years/White Belt) - U60kg, U70kg, U80kg, U90kg, +90kg

Intermediate (2-4 years/ Blue belt) - U60kg, U70kg, U80kg, U90kg, +90kg

Advanced (4-6 years /Purple belt) - U60kg, U70kg, U80kg, U90kg, +90kg

Elite (6 years+ / Brown and Black belt) - U60kg, U70kg, U80kg, U90kg, +90kg

WOMENS:

Novice (0-2 years/White Belt) - U50kg, U60kg, U70kg, +70kg

Intermediate (2-4 years/ Blue belt) - U50kg, U60kg, U70kg, +70kg

Advanced (4-6 years /Purple belt) - U50kg, U60kg, U70kg, +70kg

Elite (6 years+ / Brown and Black belt) - U50kg, U60kg, U70kg, +70kg

NOTE - Experienced MMA fighters and Judo black belts should not enter the Novice category.

NOTE - Categories may be merged subject to sign ups. We will endeavour to make any merged categories as fair as possible taking into consideration: Training experience, Weight and Age.

Rules:

ALL COMPETITORS MUST READ THE RULES PRIOR TO COMPETING:

Novice: IBJJF Rules

Intermediate: IBJJF Rules

Advanced: No heel hooks or spine locks - all other submission allowed

Elite: All submissions are legal.

NOTE - No slams, No scissor takedowns at any level

Spectators:

Free to watch, seating and space is very limited. You may have to sit around the edge of the mat.
