About this Event
In this still life drawing workshop, attendees are invited to bring their own objects related to the visual themes of the Hudson Showroom exhibition Carbonate of Copper: drapery, circuitry, flow, and foundation (though this theme is optional). We will draw these objects from observation to create one or two finished still lifes over the course of the week. Participants will learn classical techniques for working from life, including still life arrangement and setup, sighting techniques called “comparative measuring” and “enveloping”, and an introduction to the materials and processes involved in toned paper charcoal drawing. We’ll begin with setting up our still lifes and creating a contour line drawing, followed by a two-value statement, and then adding final rendering. We’ll share our finished pieces and have new drawings celebrating our chosen objects to take home and enjoy!
Because of the use of sharpening tools in this drawing workshop, this program is ideal for teenagers (13-18).
A 20% discount is offered to Artpace Members. Email [email protected] to receive a code.
