About this Event
Join us for Carbon Literacy Training at 7 John Wood St. Learn about sustainable practices, reducing carbon footprint, and making a positive impact on the environment through collective and individual climate actions.
The course takes place in two days (4 hours each) for a total of 8 hours.
First Session: Module 1 "Climate Science and Justice", Module 2 "Causes and Impacts"
Second Session: Module 3 "Adaptation and Action", Module 4 "Talking about Climate change"
This is an unique opportunity for a free, accessible, participatory and certified course, open to all individuals and organisations in Inverclyde.
Accessible: terminology and content is easy to understand and place-focused (Inverclyde, West of Scotland), you don't need to be a climate scientist!
Participatory: attendees are expected to take part in the conversations to exchange ideas and lived experiences for more meaningful outcomes.
Certified: attendees can fill in an Assessment to become Carbon Literate, and join the community of Facilitators.
The course is for people who want to understand the climate and ecological emergencies and to learn what they can do to tackle it. Participants will leave the course with skills and confidence to communicate the urgency for taking action, and with the knowledge and ideas of how to take action. After the course, your participants will:
- Understand the science of climate change.
- Understand how the wider community and local area will be impacted by climate change.
- Appreciate the significant changes we will all need to adapt to as Scotland moves to a low carbon future.
- Identify practical actions you can take to reduce emissions and future-proof your organisation.
