Carbine Fundamentals Class (1 Hour)*need at least 5 going for the class*
#### Objective
Introduce students to the basics of carbine operation, safety, and handling. By the end of the class, students should be familiar with basic carbine parts, safe handling practices, fundamental shooting positions, and basic marksmanship principles.

### Equipment and Materials Needed (1 hour class)
- Carbines for each student (or one for demonstration if limited).
- Magazines and Ammunition for live fire practice.
- Safety gear: eye and ear protection.
### Class Structure
#### 1. Introduction and Safety Briefing (10 minutes)
- **Introduction (2 minutes)**
- Instructor introduction and background.
- Overview of the course objectives.
- **Safety Rules (8 minutes)**
- **The Four Basic Firearm Safety Rules:**
- Treat all firearms as if they are loaded.
- Never point a firearm at anything you are not willing to destroy.
- Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target.
- Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
- **Range Safety:**
- Range commands and their meanings.
- Emergency procedures.
#### 2. Carbine Overview and Parts Identification (10 minutes)
- **Basic Parts of a Carbine:**
- Barrel, stock, receiver, trigger, magazine, sights/optics.
- **Carbine Controls:**
- Safety selector, magazine release, bolt release, charging handle.
#### 3. Carbine Handling and Manipulation (15 minutes)
- **Loading and Unloading:**
- Demonstrate and practice safe loading and unloading procedures.
- **Stance and Grip:**
- Demonstrate and practice the proper stance and grip for stability and control.
- **Basic Manipulation:**
- Demonstrate and practice the use of the safety selector, magazine changes, and clearing malfunctions.
#### 4. Shooting Fundamentals (15 minutes)
- **Aiming:**
- Sight alignment and sight picture.
- **Trigger Control:**
- Smooth trigger press and follow-through.
- **Breathing:**
- Proper breathing techniques to minimize movement.
- **Follow-through:**
- Importance of maintaining sight picture after the shot.
#### 5. Live Fire Practice (10 minutes)
- **Dry Fire Practice (5 minutes):**
- Practice sight alignment, trigger control, and breathing without live ammunition.
- **Live Fire Practice (5 minutes):**
- Fire a few controlled shots focusing on the fundamentals learned.
