Community Safety Takes Centre Stage at Cape Hawke SLSCForster residents and holidaymakers alike are invited to boost their beach safety knowledge this summer.
Cape Hawke Surf Life Saving Club are hosting a Community education morning offering practical, potentially life-saving skills to people of all ages.
The free event will give attendees the chance to learn CPR, understand how to use an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator), and become familiar with the contents and purpose of the shark bite kits, generously provided by the local Boardriders group. Volunteer lifesavers will also run engaging sessions on surf safety, including how to identify dangerous rip currents and what to do if you find yourself caught in one.
Our goal is simple—help people feel more confident and capable around the ocean. These are skills that can genuinely save lives
Adding to the community spirit, the club will be firing up the BBQ, with all proceeds going towards a local initiative to provide rescue tubes along One Mile Beach, further strengthening safety resources in the area.
The morning is open to locals and visitors, families, beachgoers, and anyone keen to learn more about staying safe in the surf. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet Cape Hawke’s dedicated training team and learn more about the work of volunteer lifesavers.
Come along, say hello, get involved, and enjoy a relaxed, informative morning by the beach, We can’t wait to meet you
