WHAT'S IT ABOUT?Get the practical experience to go with your theoretical understanding from the eLearning course. Under expert guidance, obtain practical experience in recording cannon using a variety of examples at the Royal Armouries Museum. There will be a second day to put your new experience into practice on a guided walk of Portsmouth town. Then for the divers attending the course, they can really test their learning by diving on the warship 'Hazardous Prize' and record and research the cannon underwater.
Please note, that there is prerequisite theoretical learning to complete beforehand which also costs £50 eLearning Cannon Recording and Research course.
WHO ARE THE TUTORS?
Kay Smith and Ruth Brown were curators at the Royal Armouries for decades and are now highly sought after historic ordnance consultants that assisted in creating the NAS eLearning course on cannon recording.
WHO'S IT FOR?
Anyone involved in the NAS Education Programme wishing to develop their practical skills. Professional archaeologists or avocational researchers who work on archaeological sites where they are likely to find cannons will find this practical training incredible useful.
NAS members will earn 5 credits per day towards their Certificate or Award.
COSTS:
NAS members £80/day for the non-diving components and £50 for the diving day
Non-NAS members £120 for the non-diving components and £90 for the diving day (although as NAS membership starts at £20, you're better off becoming a member and getting the discount rate immediately!)
