About this Event
Canning is a cost effective way to preserve fresh produce and extend its shelf life, allowing it to be stored for long periods without spoilage. Harvesting your own tomatoes or buying fresh local tomatoes in bulk and canning them yourself can be more economical than purchasing canned tomatoes throughout the year.
Participants will learn how to safely process and can their own tomato products using the boiling water bath canning technique. While the canned tomatoes are processing, participants will also make a recipe using canned tomatoes and discuss delicious recipes that can be made using fresh canned tomatoes.
A non-refundable registration fee of $15 is required.
For more information or accommodations for persons with disabilities please contact Ellen Owens at 252-338-3954 or by email at [email protected] no later than ten business days before the event.
