About this Event
Participants will learn how to preserve shelf stable food for home use. This class will cover a considerable amount of material related to all forms of canning, or home food preservation. We will discuss everything from the use of simple canning methods using simple tools to the more involved method of pressure canning.
This will be a 2.5 hour INTENSIVE lecture, with visual aids, followed by Q & A for each section. Participants will leave with a solid understanding of how to safely process and store canned food items, basic recipes for future use, a sample of lids and rings courtesy of ForJars Canning Supply, a sample of an in class blended fajita / burrito spice mix courtesy of Burlap and Barrel Single Origin Spice Company and a list of canning resources. This class is best suited to those who are 16+ years of age.
This class is taught by Stacey Lenz, long-time yoga teacher and farm volunteer. Stacey has been a lifelong canner, having first learned from childhood on her family's permaculture farm. ForJars Canning Supply, a FL based company, is the generous donor of lids and rings. https://forjars.co/
