This gut-wrenching, socially conscious supernatural horror thriller follows a graduate student of anthropology completing a thesis on urban legends and folklore. When Helen Lyle (Virginia Madsen) learns about the "Candyman" (Tony Todd), a tormented spirit with a hook for a hand who is said to haunt Chicago's notorious Cabrini-Green housing project, she thinks she has a new twist for her thesis. Braving the gang-ridden territory to investigate the site, Helen arrogantly assumes Candyman can't really exist…until he appears to her, igniting a string of terrifying, grisly murders. As she becomes enthralled by this powerful myth and descends further into the rabbit hole, Helen seems to lose her grip on reality.
