Candlelight Tribute – World Children’s Day, Thursday 20 November 2025
Hi everyone,
On World Children’s Day, Thursday 20 November, a Candlelight Tribute will take place at Sean Ross Abbey, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary, to remember the 1,090 babies and 23 young girls who died there.
The Candlelight Tribute
At Sean Ross Abbey, there will be 1,090 small battery tea lights to represent each baby and 23 pillar candles to represent the young girls who also lost their lives.
It will be a sea of light for those who were silenced and forgotten.
Making It National and Beyond
The aim is to make this a national candle lighting, where people all across Ireland and even abroad light a candle in their window at 6 pm on the 20th of November in solidarity.
If it’s shared widely enough, it could grow into something really powerful.
People can take a photo of their candle and share it online using the hashtags
#JusticeForThe1090
#SeanRossAbbeyBabies
Schools and Communities
Because it’s World Children’s Day, this is also an opportunity for schools and community groups across the country to get involved.
They can light candles, hold a moment of silence, or take part in their own way to help remember those who never got the chance to grow up.
Candle and Wreath at the Dáil
A candle and wreath will also be laid at the gates of the Dáil that evening to remind the Government that we haven’t gone away and that justice is still needed for the children of Sean Ross Abbey.
Publicity and Awareness
The hope is to get media coverage, both local and national, to bring more attention to what we’re doing and to the children who are still missing.
Please feel free to share this with your local media, schools, and any organisations or community groups you know.
Let’s make this something truly special, a moment of light and unity for the children of Sean Ross Abbey
