Candlelight Theatre offers exceptional theatre performances on a stage unlike any other.
Each season features plays within the 23rd President’s historic mansion, which provides an authentic backdrop.
Creative Director Donna Wing, Resident Playwright James Trofatter and a dedicated company of seasoned actors perform a combination of mysteries, comedies and thrilling historically-inspired tales.
- In the fall, a ghostly tale encompasses most of the mansion, with every scene taking a new twist and turn through historic rooms.
- Holiday performances feature vignettes of seasonal traditions and favorite yuletide characters.
- Our new February production that showcases a night of love, with poetry, art and music, celebrating Valentine’s Day, Black History Month and a few of Indiana’s beloved poets
- Spring productions follow a salon theatre format, using the mansion to share intimate one-act mysteries and comedies.

CANDLELIGHT THEATRE 2022-2023 SEASON ANNOUNCEMENT
After 19 years of partnership, the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site and Candlelight Theatre are proud to announce the 2022-2023 theatre season!
We will begin the season with The Haunted States of America by James Trofatter. This progressive play encompasses the entire mansion as guests are led on a voyage through the United States to meet apparitions of some of the country’s most haunted places.

Candlelight Theatre’s holiday performance is Deck the Halls by resident playwright, James Trofatter. Join us as we sing familiar holiday songs while learning the stories and traditions behind them.
Deck the Halls: December 8, 9, 10 & 11, 2022.
A new event begins in February with Hoosier H’Arts, a celebration of Valentine’s Day, Black History Month and Indiana poets. This exclusive one-evening event features hors d’oeuvres followed by readings by some of Indiana’s best loved poets.
Hoosier H’Arts: February 11, 2023.
Classic M**der is Candlelight Theatre’s spring signature performance. Three mystery plays based on the writings of Agatha Christie, Shirley Jackson and Edgar Allan Poe will be presented salon-style in three different rooms of the mansion.
