We are excited to invite you to a special event in observance of International Wrongful Conviction Day. On October 2nd, 2024, at the National WWI Museum and Memorial, MIP will present Candid Conversations, an evening dedicated to exploring the difference between being freed and being exonerated.

Being freed means that an individual who was wrongfully imprisoned is released from incarceration. However, exoneration is a separate, legal acknowledgment that fully clears their name, affirming their innocence in the eyes of the law. While many wrongfully convicted individuals have been freed, they often continue to face the profound injustice of not being officially exonerated.

This distinction is the central theme of our discussion this year. Our event will feature powerful testimonials from Laquanda Faye Jacobs and Rodney Lincoln, who have both been freed but not exonerated.

In addition to the program, we are offering a special combo ticket that includes discounted admission to the World War I Museum. Arrive early to explore the museum before our event begins, and take advantage of this unique opportunity to connect with fellow supporters. Your participation is more than just attendance—it’s a step toward creating lasting change in our legal system.

If you’re interested in sponsoring this event, please reach out to Mary Clare, MIP's Philanthropy Manager, at [email protected].

Event Schedule:
5pm - 6pm: Arrival & mingling (light hors d'oeuvres and beverages provided)
6pm - 7:30pm: Program and panel discussion
7:30pm - 8pm: Closing & mingling
