About this Event
NOTE EARLY DEPARTURE at 09:00. Upper Nethan Gorge is a gorge carved by the River Nethan. This peaceful ancient woodland supports a huge range of species, including locally uncommon plants such as broadleaved helleborine, wood melick and meadow saxifrage. Great spotted woodpeckers and buzzards are often seen.
On this visit we will be removing tubes from mature trees so the plastic does not enter the wider environment and the trees can continue to grow free of encumbrance.
Alternatively we may be working on the nearby Cander Moss removing tree saplings that are invading and damaging the bog envronment.
Please note that due to the distance to this site, the bus will depart at 0900 from the square
We encourage volunteers to use our minibus for transport. If you live near this task and wish to make your own way you must ring Debbie on 01313370223 to book a space and for joining instructions.
P lease bring your lunch and wear appropriate footwear (boots or wellingtons) and waterproof outdoor clothing.
