Please join us in a music fun night to raise money for Melode LaHuis. All proceeds will go towards medical bills and expenses. We are looking for donations for the silent auction as well! Anything helps! After a year of multiple ER visits and many doctor appointments, in November 2023 she was diagnosed with Stage 4 terminal stomach cancer that had started in her mucous membranes. After 4 months of chemotherapy, she developed an allergic reaction to the chemo. With her cat scan showing some improvements the oncologist decided to go ahead with stomach surgery, the final option. In June 2024, Melode had surgery to remove most of her stomach, some of the intestines and part of the bladder. Recovery from this surgery was strenuous and challenging to say the least. But Melode never gave up! She made it through the liquid feeds, rehabilitation and learning to eat solids again, along with all the other pain and suffering that comes along with a high risk surgery. For a few months scans had looked pretty promising. But in Spring 2025 scans showed a tumor in her bladder. This meant another surgery. Every few months they will go in and scrape the cancer off her bladder. Her first one was in April and the next will be in September. The most recent scans have also shown a spot on her liver. Melode has also started a more targeted chemotherapy for her type of cancer (no allergic reactions so far🤞) She has been through so much in the last 2 years but always keeps her head held high and NEVER EVER gives up. But the medical bills have piled up and she hasn’t been able to work during this time.
This will also be her 70th birthday! 🎉 We can’t wait to celebrate her strength!
