About this Event
Adapting old buildings for new uses is never easy and adapting Grade II* Listed ones even harder. Our Trust member Grahame Wiggin is involved with such a tricky undertaking and has invited us to see this process taking place at Tudor Grange, Blossomfields Road, Solihull B91 3EY.
Built in 1888 for a Birmingham jeweller, the house was later acquired by a member of the Bird’s Custard Powder Company who embellished it somewhat. The house later became part of the buildings comprising Tudor Grange Grammar School, later Academy.
The House is now being repaired as part of a scheme to create a care home, assisted living units and apartments. In the House itself there will be apartments on upper floors but the ground floor will be retained largely as originally built.
The visit will be hosted by Grahame Wiggin and we are hopeful that local Conservation Officer Jon Beesley will also be with us. There is no charge for the visit but members and friends must notify their intention to join the visit.
