Senator the Hon Katy Gallagher will join AIIA members and guests for a discussion on the transformative potential of artificial intelligence across government. In her roles as Minister for Finance, Minister for Women, Minister for the Public Service and Minister for Government Services, Minister Gallagher is leading efforts to ensure AI is adopted safely, responsibility and ethically in the public service.
This session will delve into Australia’s positioning as a leading digital government; AI deployment and adoption in the public service, including the rollout of GovAI; technical capability and digital literacy across the public sector workforce. It will also include discussion on critical activities helping to drive productivity and deliver more efficient and effective services, including Digital ID.
After the Minister’s address we will have a fireside chat with Services Australia’s Chief Customer Officer, Jonathon Thorpe, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Service Delivery Excellence. It will be an interesting opportunity to discuss what the move into the finance portfolio might change for Services Australia’s customers and staff.

As Minister for Finance, Minister for Women, Minister for the Public Service, Minister for Government Services and Manager of Government Business in the Senate, Senator the Hon Katy Gallagher pays a central and pivotal role in the Albanese Government.
As Minister for Finance, Minister Gallagher is responsible for managing the $682 billon spend of the Federal Government, including over $10 billion in ICT expenditure each year. Minister Gallagher also has direct responsibility for Digital ID, the Buy Australian Plan procurement policy, reform of the Australian Public Service, and operational service delivery through Services Australia. She is Shareholder Minister for a number of Government Business Enterprises including Australia Post and NBN, and she Chairs the Data and Digital Ministers Meeting with digital-focused state and territory government ministers.
