Day 1 – Tuesday 23rd PORT TO CANBERRA
Welcome to our very special 5-day tour to our National Capital. Canberra is renowned for its landscaped streets, public parks, planted road medians and gardens and we’re going to see them all on our Autumn tour. We’ve also planned to be in Canberra on ANZAC Day. We bypass Sydney and travel into the Southern Highlands before passing through Goulburn to arrive in Canberra late afternoon. On arrival we check into our accommodation – our base for the next 4 nights.

Day 2 – Wednesday 24th DISCOVERING CANBERRA
Following breakfast we head across to the National Museum of Australia for a guided tour – hear great stories about Australia and Australians told through new ideas, interactive displays, and significant objects. We have some free time to wander through the displays or revisit points of interest from our tour and to purchase lunch. This afternoon we spend at the Australian War Memorial. Over the past few years, the Memorial has undergone extensive redevelopment resulting in new galleries and displays. Later in the afternoon we move to the focus of the commemoration - the Hall of Memory together with the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Pool of Reflection and the Roll of Honour listing the names of over 102,000 Australian servicemen and women who have died in war. It is here we’ll hear the Last Post and closing ceremony.

Day 3 – Thursday 25th ANZAC DAY
Today marks the 109th anniversary of the landing of Australian and New Zealand Army Corps troops at Gallipoli, the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. We will remember them. Early this morning, we transfer to the Australian War Memorial to take part in the Dawn Service. We return to our hotel for breakfast, and then head back to Anzac Parade and the War Memorial for the National Ceremony and see the veteran’s march. Along the ANZAC Parade there are memorials we can spend time at respectively leaving our thoughts. With such an early start today, we can enjoy a relaxed afternoon with no pre-arranged activities. At dinner we meet again, and the evening is at leisure. Breakfast and Dinner at the hotel | lunch own arrangements and costs
Day 4 – Friday 26th GALLERY AND A HISTORICAL HOMESTEAD
We start the day by visiting the National Portrait Gallery uncovering the extraordinary stories of exploration and individual achievement. For lunch we head out into the farmlands and visit Lanyon Homestead, set within superb pleasure gardens, and features a range of outbuildings located within a landscape of great natural beauty. We enjoy our lunch in the Lanyon Café, one of the historic outbuildings at Lanyon. Returning to the hotel if we need more time at the memorials on ANZAC parade we can certainly return, yesterday the crowds could’ve stopped us taking them all in. Breakfast and Dinner at the hotel. Lunch.
