The Morris Canal Through Roxbury TownshipJoin the Canal Society's Tim Roth as we take a west-east journey along the Morris Canal through Roxbury Township, starting at Lake Musconetcong, and ending at Lock 2 East in Wharton (the border of Roxbury Twp is just above the head of the lock). Along the way, it we will visit Port Morris, Landing, Shippenport, Ledgewood, Kenvil, and Lower Berkshire Valley, and learn about the canal's history in these towns. We will also learn about the important symbiotic relationship between the Morris Canal and Lake Hopatcong, and how the canal was born and died on Lake Hopatcong. This program covers many aspects of local history beyond just the story of the canal, and contains lots of historic photos.
