Camping at the old elephant camp

In this trip, we will be camping near the River Khwae at the old elephant camp. Our theme of this camping trip is to mainly relax and reconnect to the nature. We set out tents near the river, bamboo rafting and enjoy the outdoor camping food in the evening. If you wish to fishing and have the equipment, you can enjoy that as well.
Next day, visit the most iconic locations in Kanchanaburi. We visit Tham KraSae Cave and KraSae Bridge, which is the part of the death railway rail. After that, we will visit a hundred years old raintree which is one of the most protected trees in Thailand before return back to Bangkok.

_____
About the campsite:
The elephant camp is no longer serving in the tourist industry since 2018. They currently have 4 elephants and their care takers living at the campsite. You may see them roaming around from time to time, and both of the elephants and their care taker still giving services to the people who visit campsite exchange for the food.

Disclaimer
Bangkok Hiking never support the animal abuse. Our main priority choosing partners that do positive impact to the local community. This campsite is the one we chose.
Now, we understand that elephant camps have a bad reputation on the animal abuse, or forcing the elephants to work etc. But not all the camps forced the elephant to work longer hours without caring about their conditions, nor all the care takers abuse their elephants in this industry. A single grown elephant could easily eat upto 400kg of food per day, and to get food the camp need the money to take care of them.
These are the way you can help to support them...
1) Donate money directly to the camp to support their food
2) 20 minutes bathing the elephant for 500 THB
3) Riding elephant around the campsite for 200 THB
4) Support or buy the snacks or product from the campsite.
