This is a community event open to any one. This is your invitation to participate in a community music creation event. Not a musician? Well as far we are concerned an engaged audience is an integral part of any creative performance. Bring a chair, beverage, instrument, etc. and join in. We will meet on the outdoor classroom patio under the shade of the tent. The "pickin circle" will be lead by none other than Jim Miller and Scott Anderson as well as other members of the Potluck String Band. The good folks of the Potluck String Band are known regionally as the masters of the community pick. Their enthusiastic and welcoming nature have proven to open the doors of community creation for experienced and beginner musicians alike. What started as a weekly potluck with aspiring musician friends nearly 10 years ago has turned into a focal point of community building at regional festivals like Blue Ox and Boats and Bluegrass. Come be part of this wonderful free event as we say goodbye to summer and hello to a beautiful fall this Labor Day Weekend.
This years "Pickin Circle" will be recorded by professional musician and videographer Chris Snyder. The video will be used as part of the SEMAC grant evaluation and to document this special event.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts & cultural heritage fund.
