About this Event
Campbeltown, located on Scotland's Kintyre Peninsula, was once the whisky capital of the world, boasting over 30 distilleries in the 19th century, all in an area roughly the size of Central Park. Its coastal location provided access to abundant barley and a harbor for exporting whisky globally. Known for its distinctive maritime character, Campbeltown Scotch often features smoky, salty, and briny notes. However, Prohibition in the U.S., economic challenges, and inconsistent quality led to a steep decline, leaving only three active distilleries today: Springbank, Glen Scotia, and Glengyle. Despite its reduced size, Campbeltown retains its prestigious status as one of Scotland’s five official whisky-producing regions, celebrated for its unique style.
Join us as we taste through the broad range of unique characters which call this tiny town home.
