Camp STAR is crafted from queer, neurodivergent, and disabled folks wanting to create intergenerational spaces where folks of all ages can learn from each other. The hope is to cultivate spaces that are rooted in restorative justice and community care, where folks can create art while learning life skills that will help them gain confidence and allow them to explore their identities.Our primary focus is on creating spaces for youth to explore their creative ideas through performance art in judgment-free environments. This will happen through mentorships from older performers and attending workshops in collaboration with local community groups and artists. And then showcasing what they have learned through barrier-free variety shows and inclusive performances within Alberta.
This show is our very first ever show, and we are showcasing seasoned and new performers with all sorts of different styles of performing.
This is a masked event. We ask that you test for COVID at least 24 hours in advance, and kindly wear a mask. Some members in the audience and the performers might be immunocompromised, and to keep everyone as healthy as possible, we think it is best to wear a mask. Masks will be provided at the door.
