About this Event

Implementing a sense of resilience in pre-teens can have life changing effects:

Young people are faced with numerous societal pressures that can erode their self-confidence and sense of security. Media messages, peer pressure, and social media can all contribute to negative self-talk, insecurities, and a sense of inadequacy. It is essential for pre-teens to develop a healthy self-image and self-esteem early, as this can positively impact their mental health, relationships, life choices, and future success.

Activities such as therapeutic horsemanship, art, gardening, and outdoor games, encourage young people to grow in empathy, communication, and trust. Our program encourages participants to connect with nature and explore their creativity. We are committed to creating a community where young people can share their experiences and learn from one another, while celebrating their diversity and individuality.

In the joyful contact of our Ohana sharing of Hawaiian culture, including craft and activities, our goals are to:

  • Empower the recognition and appreciation of self-worth and unique identities
  • Introduce a space for quiet time and reflection
  • Provide a time to unplug with a screen, technology and social media-free environment
  • Introduce mindfulness and self-care practices
  • Encourage the expression of creativity and authenticity
  • Provide a safe and supportive environment to share experiences and make connections
  • Promote leadership skills and goal-setting for future success
  • Develop skills and strategies to navigate the challenges of adolescence
  • Celebrate diversity and individuality
  • Provide a memorable and enjoyable experience

All proceeds will benefit Ohana Preservation Foundation’s 501(c)3 mission to serve vulnerable children, their families and caregivers.
