About this Event
What you will experience!
Camp is split into two unique experiences: a Reporting Camp and an Anchor Camp. At Reporting Camp, students tackle a mock news scenario, guided by mentors through the news-gathering process, ultimately producing a completed package by the end of the camp. Anchor Camp focuses on anchoring skills and on-air presentation techniques, with mentors offering personalized instruction. While the Reporting Camp activities are held on-site, Anchor Camp students will head to Pepperdine University for specialized training.
The camp kicks off at 7 a.m. on Saturday, December 14th, running through dinner, with mentors and students having the option to continue working on their packages during editing sessions. The camp concludes on Sunday, December 15th, at around 3 p.m. following the presentation of news packages by the Reporting Camp and newscasts by the Anchor Camp.
Meals and lodging are included in registration. Saturday's meals cover lunch and dinner, while Sunday includes breakfast and lunch. Campers will stay in dormitory-style accommodations with shared bathrooms (separate for men's and women's dorms). Each room comes with a bed and mattress, but campers should bring their own bedding (sheets, pillows, sleeping bags) and personal items like shower towels.
