Clear your schedule, pack your bonnets, and assemble your squad—it’s time to go camping!
Join as we host Camp Coily, an exciting 18+ hands-on indoor experience that will teach you natural hair care and styling. This is NOT a real camp as much as it is an adventure that we will embark on to teach you how to style your loose curly hair and locs or add some braid or twist extensions.
Camp Coily will be held on November 2, 2025, at , there will be two sessions to choose from.
If you’re ready to explore or level up your natural haircare skills with some hands-on fun, you do "knot" wanna miss our in-person event!
Who All Gonna Be There?
All experience levels are welcome to Camp Coily! Whether you want to learn the basics of cornrowing, master the art of crisp parting, loc maintenance, two-strands, and flat twist, your tribe awaits.
As the DMV’s top natural hair salon, N has been celebrating, styling, and nurturing kinks, locs, and curls of all kinds for 12 years. We ain’t new to this, we’re true to this! Our camp counselors (master stylists) bring 15+ years EACH to the natural hair game. Need we say more?
This event is great for new naturals seeking to learn basic hair care practices that work. The veteran natural who wants to do more than pull their hair back in a puff. And the parent looking to style their child's hair, of course dads are invited!
Why Go to Camp Coily?
Hands-On Learning: Get access to textured hair mannequins, products and styling tools in workshops led by our master stylists. On the hands-on agenda are four styles, teaching you how to do two strand twists, flat twists, cornrows, and loc grooming each session. We're calling it camp because the name is cute, but really it's more like a boot camp. We’ll teach you how to detangle both your hair and your hair struggles!
Cultural Education: Dive deep into empowering discussions about African American hairstory. This isn’t your average “campfire story”—we’re telling truths you won’t find in any textbook. And exposing you to the true significance of possessing the skills you will walk away with.
"Curl" side Chats: Gather ‘round, roast some marshmallows, and spill the tea on hair care tips. While the hair styling will take up most of the class haircare will be part of the foundations we go over at the beginning. Get ready to take notes and ask questions for personalized tips.
Tailored Camp Experience: Link up with like minds and skills with beginner, intermediate and advanced hair sessions for the perfect, intimate experience. You can be brand new to styling, been doing it a while but need some help or feel like you're ready to open up your own salon and you just have a few questions for stylists that have been doing this for over a decade. We will have multiple master stylists on-site catering to whatever level you are at.

SWC (Seventy. Wednesday. Cash)
SWC (Seventy. Wednesday. Cash) is happening on October 29, 2025, created to help you, our clients, during these trying times. For just $80, get a whole service that includes a shampoo. You put down $10 to hold your spot. On the Wednesday of the appointment, you bring cash to pay the remaining $70. If you have locs, you can get loc grooming. If you have loose hair you can get two-strand twists or straight back flat twists. There will be no loc styling, no blow drying, no treatments. This is a fast-paced event. If you require extra time for detangling, we do not recommend you sign up. To book, simply text “SWC” to 301-901-8047.

Info: Delve into the world of textured hair's origin story before we start talking nerdy about hair care. Followed by a brief overview of hair science and an in-depth look at hair care and various hair products. We will expose you to how some brands mislabel their products and WHY reading the labels matter.

Session #1 Hands-On Two Strand Twists or Loc Grooming
Info: Two Strand Twist is a staple when it comes to natural hair styling. We will show you how there are different types of two strands and what products and techniques to use to get the results you're looking for. You may be looking for juicy Two Strands that give volume or tight Senegalese that give a tighter definition.

Session #1 Hands-On Flat Twists or Cornrows
Info: Here's where you get to choose your destination. Learning a new skill like flat twists or cornrows will take some time. You can choose which one you'd like to focus on first, as we will have various facilitators. You will learn what products and tools will help you the best followed by the hands on technique to master these styles. IF you're learning allows you can totally learn both. WE simply suggest focusing on one if you are a beginner.

Info: While we do hair all day, we are fully aware that your average person is not up for a whole bunch of hours just playing in textured hair. We have added bonus hours for those of you who want more time to learn and more time with us. We are happy to teach. Stay an extra hour to really master your new skills or hang around to spend more time with your new friends.
