Local chamber orchestra Camerata Little Rock will present the first concert of their second season: “The Bach Tradition: Orchestral Works by J.S. Bach and Sons” on Saturday, September 13 at 7:30 pm at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral (310 W. 17th St.). The performance is FREE and open to the public.Following a successful inaugural season, Camerata Little Rock will now present "The Bach Tradition," an exciting program of suites, symphonies, and concertos for soloists and string orchestra by one of the most revered and influential composers in history, in addition to his musical offspring. The program will open and close with two of Johann Sebastian Bach’s most famous and beloved works, presented in unique settings: his Orchestral Suite No. 3, and his Double Concerto for Oboe and Violin, featuring ASO principal Leanna Renfro. In between, you will also get to hear rarely performed string symphonies by two of his sons, Carl Philip Emmanuel and Johann Christian Friedrich Bach, as well as a reenvisioning of a Wilhelm Friedemann Bach Prelude and Fugue for string trio by none other than Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The concert will last for
approximately one hour and the experience will be both educational and informal. A "German coffeehouse"-themed reception will follow the performance.
