When determining which bracket to register for, please use the following guidelines: If you want to register for the 3.5 bracket both you and your partner should be under 4.0. Typically, players wanting to play 3.5 will have a rating somewhere in between 3.5-4.0. If you want to register for the 3.5 bracket and you have a 3.75 rating, and your partner is 4.2 you should register for the 4.0 bracket. If you still register for the 3.5 bracket, the tournament director may move you to the 4.0 bracket.
FORMAT
Round Robin into bracket. All teams are scheduled for a minimum of 5 games. All scores will be entered into DUPR.
Scoring Format: Standard
Round Robin: Games to 11 win by 1 point.
Main Draw (bracket): Matches consist of a best of 3 game format with each game to 11, win by 2 points. If you lose in the Main Draw the best you can finish is 3rd.
Consolation (bracket): Each match consists of one game to 15, win by two points except for the final match which determines 3rd place (best of 3 game format with each game to 11, win by 2 points).
Skill levels may be combined during the Round Robin portion and then split into 2 brackets based on the standings from the Round Robin. Both brackets will be treated separately and have their own medalist. Depending on the number of registered players/teams in each event, we will combine events either based on skill or age to provide the best overall playing experience, given the circumstances.
Players will be placed into pools based on their team rating (combine you and your partner’s rating). If you do NOT have a DUPR rating you will be given a rating in our tournament software based on the bracket you registered for. Example: If you register for 3.5, and don’t have a DUPR, we will use 3.5 when calculating your team rating.
The event has the right to shorten match formats if weather poses scheduling delays.
INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
This is an outdoor event. If weather or any other unforeseen circumstance occurs PBC will do all it can to play matches. If brackets are in mid play when a weather or unforeseen circumstance occurs the situation will be evaluated on a case by case basis to determine if the bracket may be finished or if winners may be determined.
