Background
At Cambridge Junction, creative learning is central and embedded within all our programmes: popular culture, artistic programmes, and artist development.
Our creative learning programme focuses of 3 key areas:
• Bespoke creative programmes in schools and communities through long-term partnerships with education & youth support settings
• Open access evening clubs at Cambridge Junction
• Industry insights & creative career development through short courses & paid supported employment
Built on principles of co-design, collaboration and inclusivity, our work focuses on working with young people with complex needs and those who experience significant barriers in their lives.
Take Two
The Take Two programme was a 4-year partnership programme, focused on filmmaking and broader creative and arts engagement through collaboration and co-creation with professional artists, and most importantly, the young people.
The project partnered with four alternative education providers in Cambridgeshire: Red Balloon Learners Centres, Olive AP Academy, Pilgrim Pathways Hospital School, and The Cabins.
The core components of Take Two were made possible by support and funding from The Paul Hamlyn Foundation with additional grants from The Evelyn Trust, The Limbourne Trust, and the Red Hill Trust
The Symposium
The Take Two symposium seeks to model how we work by inviting professionals to take part in a day which explore the learning and impact of Take Two, including our approach to evaluation and how this has shifted, our partnership working, our framework for learning, and what this actually looks like in practice.
Led by young people, artists, teachers and the creative learning team, each component will seek to explore how we have developed, adapted and facilitated our programmes with learners on Take Two.
The day will have a collaborative and informal feel. There will be lots of refreshments, films made by young people, and space for chats and reflection.
What will the day involve?
– Sharing the learning and impact from Take Two
– Film screenings
– Most Significant Change evaluation approaches
– Panel discussions + Q&A with Take Two partner schools & artists
– We will invite you to participate in creative activities & join discussions throughout the day
– Lots of refreshments including lunch
– Networking opportunities
– TBC: DJ set by Olive AP Academy learners
