Calvert City is thrilled to announce the launch of the inaugural Calvert City Balloon Glow, a two-day event set to light up Memorial Park on September 13 and 14 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM each night.This exciting event promises to be a perfect family outing, offering old-fashioned nostalgic carnival games, live music, local artisan vendors, and a breathtaking display of glowing hot air balloons.
Attendees can also enjoy tethered hot air balloon rides for $20 per person. Please note that children must be tall enough to see over the basket to participate. For early birds, the balloons will take flight over Calvert City between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. on September 14. Watch for the balloons to fly through the sky in a race to Doctors Park that morning.
"We are incredibly excited to host the Calvert City Balloon Glow," said Blair Travis, director of marketing and business development for Calvert City. "This new event is not only going to be a fantastic addition to our community's festivities but is also expected to draw in tourists from all around, showcasing the charm and hospitality of Calvert City."
If you are a landowner residing five miles or less from Calvert City with over 3 acres of property and would be okay allowing a hot air balloon to launch from your property, please get in touch with Calvert City Hall by July 19.
If you are a local artisan and wish to be a part of the balloon glow, please email [email protected]. Only hand-crafted items will be allowed at this event.
The event is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to enjoy live music, food trucks, and more. If your business or organization would like to host a carnival game, please get in touch with Calvert City Hall by July 19.
In addition to enjoying the event, the city is looking for enthusiastic individuals to join the balloon crew. A free training session will be held in August.
