Do you dream of having a dog who will settle calmly while you enjoy a drink in a coffee shop, or who will resist the urge to jump up when meeting people? Then this two-part impulse control workshop is for you. Many dogs struggle to control their natural impulses such as jumping up, pulling towards other dogs on walks or just not staying still when you pick up after them – we can help by giving your dog alternatives to these behaviours.
This workshop is split into two, two hour sessions. On the first you will find out about impulse control and learn some activities for your dog to help them stay calm around distractions. The second workshop – which is two weeks later – will give you the opportunity to put these to the test with some ‘real-life’ scenarios!
Workshop 1 date - 10th January 2026 2pm to 4pm
Workshop 2 date - 24th January 2026 2pm to 4pm
Workshop one includes:
🔹What is impulse control and why do we need to teach our dogs this skill?
🔹The positive side effects of increasing impulse control on daily life
🔹How to implement impulse control within your daily routine
🔹How to teach your dog the skills that will mean they consistently make great choices
🔹‘Take home’ impulse control exercises to put into practice
Workshop two includes:
🔹‘Real-life’ challenges which will give you the opportunity to test what you have practised since the first workshop. We will set up scenarios similar to things you encounter every day, such as walking past other dogs, sitting still when you pick up after them, settling calmly in a pub/café, ignoring moving objects etc.
🔹A fun competition with points awarded for each challenge completed and prizes too!
Workshop cost - £60 per dog, payable in full upon booking.
