Calligraphy Workshop - Introduction to Persian & Arabic Scripts


Come join us at the Public Art Lab for a hands-on experience delving into the beautiful art of calligraphy!

In this workshop, you will learn the basics of Persian and Arabic scripts. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this workshop is perfect for anyone interested in the art of writing. Hands-on practice will be combined with on-site demonstrations, live feedback, short informal lectures and Q&A

Join in to explore the rich history and intricate techniques of calligraphy in a zen and creative setting.

The participants will learn the Nastaʿlīq script which was developed in Iran in the 14th and 15th centuries. The script is well known for its fluid style. It has short verticals with no serifs and long horizontal strokes. Nastaʿlīq remains very widely used in Iran, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan and Arabic countries for written poetry and as a form of art.



Prerequisites
  • For this course, you will need NO previous experience in Calligraphy or Arabic/Persian Languages. Just come with an open mind and a willingness to learn.
  • The materials for the workshop will be provided to you and are included in the price.
  • This workshop is held in English and Persian
