The Calligraphy Elbow method, created by Master Zhen Hua Yang, is a form of movement derived from Chinese internal martial arts, but primarily focused on health and well-being.This method draws inspiration from the freedom and beauty of the Chinese brush calligraphy style known as Kuang Cao 狂草 (Wild Cursive). Calligraphy Elbow is a natural and full of energy energy expression through movement, similar to the strokes of a brush on paper.
It is a practice where the energy generated during movement is focused on the elbows, making it suitable for self-defense or combat. However, this practice operates on many levels. It develops strength and coordination, relaxes the body, and clears the mind. Among other benefits, it improves digestion as well as hormonal and emotional balance. The movements and sequences can be performed both slowly and quickly. When performed slowly, they have a healing effect on the internal systems. When performed quickly, they can be used for self-defense. In classes, one can learn how to generate strength and speed of movement not from the muscles, but from the body's center – the Dantian and internal organs.
Calligraphy Elbow is a method that Master Yang primarily teaches to women. It's accessible to every woman, regardless of height, age, or physical strength. It does not require prior experience and is not associated with typical strength training. It involves smooth, continuous, natural integration of the body with breath.
