Isn't that going to be too sad, Heather? A whole Story Show about grief? Why yes, friends. There will be sad parts, AND there will be hopeful parts and even funny parts. Facing grief through the power of story is a healing experience, and we're going to DO IT! "Grief" is about loss. Losses of all kinds. Grief is about pain and growth and how a person keeps going when it feels impossible. Bring me your authentic, raw, true stories. Tell a story of loss, and share how it really feels/felt.
Your personal essay (true story) needs to be a length that can be read aloud in 5-7 minutes.
You do not have to write about death specifically. Grief hits after the loss of a marriage, a job, or a place you call home. The list is endless--make it your own.
A personal essay is YOUR true story; I do not accept submissions that are fictionalized or imagined, even if they're cool.
The New London Story Show will take place on Sunday, May 25th at 1pm. If that one is sold out, we will do our best to add a second show for the same day.
Questions? Email Heather at flyleafbookshop at gmail dot com, or leave a comment here. OR, send a message via messenger.
Each submission will be carefully considered. You do not have to have to be a "writer" to submit your story! We all have stories to share. If you feel like your story will need work and help, no problem--that's why I'm here!
Go forth and WRITE!
